After the first chapter I am curious about why the parent did this to Anna. What were they thinking when they just used her for parts? I think at first that the parents are just mean and I don't know how they could do this. And then I think about what I would do in that situation and it seems kind of like a hard decision. I wouldn't want my first child to die, but I don't know if I would be willing to have a child made just for parts.
curious...... ik y....bc they r selfish pricks. They were thinking for themselves and their first daughter. If it was me....id stick with the first daughter and make due with what i have and suck it up when it gets bad.
so I'm a car nerd and when you have a car that you really like but need several parts for you can buy a car that you don't like and might be in really bad shape to get the parts you want from it for the car you do like. i think this is how it is with Kate. Kate is the daughter then really and Anna is just there for spare parts.
I completely agree with Kim. I realize that Brian and Sara only made Anna to save Kate but to ruin one life for another is not the right way of saving Kate.

People that have one kid to keep the other kid alive is bull because then i see it like this....ur just the replacement part for the other kid to make that one perfect and when they dont need anna anymore....then what....
That's true! I never thought of that. If Kate dies will they start treating Anna better? Or will they be mad at her because she couldn't save her life?
I agree, I can't imagine parents having a kid to save another one! They are going to end up losing two children instead of just one! I feel really bad for Anna :(

Kimberly: I hope so too but at the same time I hope this doesn't go too far.. It could ruin their family. If the lawyer takes them to court then the states going to be involved and it will be way harder to end this if they come to an agreement because their agreement is now involved with the government rather than just a family.
Im wondering why they are doing this to her.. i mean i understand that her older sister needs help but why just have a kid so the other one can live and then the parents just shrug there shoulders to Anna. I could never do this to my kids. I really believe that her parents might just be scared and what ever the doctor tells them they do it.
I feel like they think of Anna as an object, not a person! They only think of her as replacement parts for Kate. I couldn't do this to my kids either. :( I agree about them being scared, that could be why they have made the decisions that they have. I don't want to make excuses for them either though.
I am irritated with the paretns in this story. Maybe I am irritated because I can't relate to their situation. I feel bad for Anna because her whole life has been about saving her sister. The parents look after Kate and none of their other children. When their children are grown, they won't have built any relationships with them. They are trying to save Kate but they are killing their family! This whole situation must have been pretty bad for Anna if she hired a lawyer to sue her parents. I don't understand what is going to happen to Anna while the lawsuit is occuring. Where is she going to live??
Why would the parents do this to one of their daughters? It is just mean to kill one kid to save another. The parents should donate their bodies and not their childrens.
I think they were desperate. I don't think the parents bodies are matches. That is why they created Anna, to have a perfect match. It still isn't right though.
I still think its a selfish thing to do even in desperate times... I hope to never be in this situation though so I couldn't say what I would do if I was in this situation.
after the first chapter i am extremely frustrated with this whole book. Anna is being selfish and should just help her sister. the parents are being inconsiderate. Kate is being selfish and should think more of her sister and all her sister has given for her. its all very irritating and Chris is gonna end up like burning the book. and its funny..
I am not too into the story but I think it's inhumane to synthetically create a kid for the sole purpose of cutting her open to keep your natural born kid alive... :(
