Assignment 11

This is the final post for My Sister's Keeper.  Give me your impressions of the ending.  Were you surprised? What other feelings did you have?  Create a well thought out paragraph to answer the question.  Then you must respond to TWO of your peers' posts.

  1. I was surprised.I didn't see this coming at all. This type of thing in books I really like because it keeps your attention till the end of the book. I was sad because it was her father who found her. To me that would be the hardest but some people might take it a little better then a phone call. In the situation it is always hard and never easy. What i couldn't believe was that they shut the respirator. I also liked how the other told how Sara could feel the heart slowly going down. But i think they might have been able to help her, even though they say they cant there is always hope. I really wish we could have heard what Jesse's reaction was to this situation.

  2. This book definitely kept me hooked! I cannot imagine how hard that would have been for Brain. I agree that there is always hope, but at the same time her parents can only hold on for so long. I think it was best to let her go when they did. The longer they waited, the harder it would have been for everyone.

  3. i was pissed off when I read the ending. I at least expected for anna to get into a wreck with campbell. It was definatly sad for anna. But im glad kate got to stay alive and be half way healthy. and jesse doing all those fires then going and doing that?? i give him credit, thts a huge step.

    1. The ending was definitely a shocker! I am also glad that Kate survived. I wonder if the transplant would have been successful if the circumstances were different(if Anna would not have died)?

    2. I don't think they would have gone through with the transplant if Anna hadn't have gotten into that accident. I agree with Chris though, it was a huge step and I was really happy to read that.

    3. I was also glad to her that Jesse turned his life around. Although it is sad that it took such a dramatic, sad change in his life for him to realize that.

  4. The ending really upset me. I wanted there to be a happy ending for this family. I think that the ending was realistic, but it broke my heart. I was definitely surprised! I am glad that the family did not have to lose both of their daughters. Although they lost Anna, they were spared a second tragedy. I am a little confused because Kate's treatments never worked until Anna died. I feel like Anna's death gave Kate the push she needed to get better. I wish this book had a sequel! I would love to see how Kate's life turns out. Life is not full of happy endings, and this book definitely represented this fact.

    1. It makes me wonder if a kidney was all Kate needed all along. I assume that would be something that doctors would find out but I think it is weird how she stopped having problems once she got Anna's kidney..

    2. I agree. Secretly i was hoping all along that there would be a happy ending for this family. They were all staying together and trying to get through all of the challenges.

  5. The ending left me in complete shock. Everyone kept telling me the ending was going to make me cry. I was about 5-10 pages from the ended and I started to believe this less. I figured it’d play out like the movie did but slightly different. It came as a huge shock to me. I read it at like midnight when I was just about falling asleep and it kept me up for a while thinking about how messed up it was. I was beyond surprised that it was Anna that died and not Kate. I really hated to see that happen since Anna still wanted to live and Kate didn’t. It also upset me to see that their dad became an alcoholic. However, on the contrary, it did make me happy to see that Kate was starting to make something of her life. I also loved that Jesse stopped setting things on fire and became a police officer.
(I am also really glad that I was gone on Friday since you guys went to the computer lab to type this entry then. I would have been so mad if I found out the ending on here before I read it! Just saying!)

  6. I had no idea that this is how the book was going to end. At the end of the book I was very shocked and heartbroken. The end of the book was sad because one of the sisters ended up dying so that the other could live. The book was very good at explaining everything from multiple people's perspective. However the car accident happened all of a sudden and was very quick and so unpredictable.
