Assignment 2 (FGT)

This novel has a very complex structure alternating between the past and the present and the point of view of a whole host of different characters. Did this narrative format work for you? Were there particular narrators you found more compelling than others and why?

  1. I hate the format of the book. It made things way more confusing. I liked when Mrs. Threadgoode was narration. It worked the best for me because it was easiest to follow and understand. The other ones were more difficult and I didn't like them.

  4. No this narrative format did not work for me. It was very confusing and hard for me to understand the book. Throughout the whole book i was pretty much lost and had no clue what was going on. The theme of the book was good and and all but how they wrote the book is what i didnt like about it.

  5. This format of the book was okay for me. However, sometimes it did comfuse me but then I would just re-read it or just read more carefully. I found Idgie and Ruth's stories more interesting than Mrs. Threadgood and Evelyn's. Maybe it was just because they were more action packed and I could follow what they were doing easier than MRs. Threadgood's. Somethimes Mrs. Threadgood and Evelyn's side was interesting too. I just thought there was more action in Idgies. Except for when Twanda came out in Evelyn then it got interesting.

  6. The format of the book was a little confusing. It helped that the sections were labeled. The format allowed me to gain multiple perspectives. I enjored reading when Mrs. Threadgoode was narrarating. She reminded me of when my family tell me stories from their past. I also like reading the The Weems Weekly; it always made me laugh.

  7. I've written in this format before so it doesnt bother me. i can usually follow it fairly well. id just rather there be a straightforward story line rather than it jumping back and forth.

  8. I did not like the format of the book because I found myself too confused when reading it. Generally, I read books that have one timeline, not two separate ones. Furthermore, I do not think that the narrator emphasized enough about what time period the reader switched to.
