  1. I choose to write about Jesse. Jesse's behavior is sign I think. I think nobody cares about jesse. I also feel like Jesse feels like his family doesn't care what he does. So Jesse is kind of rebellious and trying to get his families attention. He gets in trouble at school, steals, smokes and other things. His family still doesn't ever seem to care. And I feel like they never talk about him or concerned about him. I feel sorry for him.

    1. I agree, I think that he is just acting out to get attention.

    2. I agree that he never gets attention and he deserves a lot more attention that he gets. If he had more attention he probably wouldn't act the way he does.

    3. I agree. I feel really bad for Jesse because his family doesn't care about him.

    4. I feel setting the fires is how he deals with the fact that kate is going to die. It helps him forget

  2. I am going to choose kate to write about. she is a very strong person and has great will. she is also very tough. she has been through a lot in her life and can handle anything. her sister anna really does love her. anna sometimes seems mean and cruel to kate but kate still loves her a lot. kate is a great inspiration.

  3. I think that Anna is a very mature girl for her age. I think that the choice she made to get medical emancipation was both right and wrong. She was right because it should have been her choice in the first place. She was wrong because she is basically saying that she wants her sister to die. With all of the choices that Anna has made there is bad a good outcome. Anna chose to have medical ammancipation because she didn't want to have to ruin her life to try and save her sister with the possibility that her sister could die anyways. I think Anna has some some wise decisions but didn't see through them before they were made.

    2. I don't think that Anna wants Kate to die. I think she sees what Kate is going through and knows that Kate can not deal with it anymore. I see very much where you are coming with the rest if what you wrote.

  5. Anna may come off selfish, but she is only acting that way because she wants the right to her own body. I mean who wouldn't? Her motivation is simply because she feels as if she isn't getting the chance to be a normal child. Since her sister, Kate is sick, she hasn't really had a choice. Even close to when she was born they would treat Anna, without her even knowing at the time. She didn't have a choice. Until she decides to do something about it. Sara thinks this is an act of rebellion. Anna only wants to right to her own body.

  6. I chose Anna. Her decision to file for medical emancipation really took a toll on this book. I'm sure some people agree with what Anna did and I know some don't agree with her. I do not agree with Anna. I understand that she was tired of giving things to Kate. However, technically she is killing her sister. I don't think it is right for Anna to be ale to do that to Kate. Kate needs her sister in order to live and I know Anna understands that. I just think that Anna should have thought about this a little more.

  7. Brian acted as a mediator throughout this whole ordeal. He feels stuck in the middle. He is torn between the welfare of his one daughter ana and his other daughter and his wife. I dont know how brian has managed to stay sane throught all of this. He is the glue that tries to hold his family together. I am really surprised that he handled the situation with jesse the way he did. I wouldve got beat if i would have set a school on fire. Brian is a good father that would do anything for his family.

    1. I agree with you exactly. I too, think that Brian is the person that holds this family together. He is the middle ground in between everybody.

  8. Brian does many things that I agree with. He would voice what he thinks is right even though it will make sara or other people mad. He would be on Anna's side because he thought thats what is right and what should be done. I personaly think that he is more realistic than Sara. The thing that I really agree with is, how he handled the situation with jesse and the arsons. He didn't overreact to it but didn't ignore it either.

  9. I think Anna is a very strong girl. She wants to do the right thing for her family, herself, and Kate. If you really think about Anna didn't really make any of the decisions about filing for emancipation. Kate wanted her, too. If it was you and your sister was dying and was just in pain all the time, wouldn't you want to put her put of her misery? In my opinion I would because she is just suffering. She does also she this as a chance to have a life on her own and that is what Kate wants for her.
