Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe Assignment 1


As we begin the novel, we meet Evelyn. She's overweight, unhappy, and disconnected from her body and self. How do you feel about her? Answer in at leastthree sentences, and then reply to at least two of your peers.

  2. She listens to the old lady tell a story. But she always says how big she is. Evelyn isn't really open to people like she thinks she doesn't have a good self esteem.

  3. I'm not sure what to think about her. Because it's odd that when it mentions her that she always has food with her. She doesn't seem like she is a very talkative person.

  5. It seems like she is pretty shy. And you can clearly tell, that she doesn't like herself. She needs to fin someone to love or something she loves to do, so she can be a little more happy

  6. I feel that if she feels the way she does about her weight then she should figure out a way to loose that weight. I think that if they don't want to be that way that she should find something to get her mind off of her weight. She should find something that she likes to do .

  9. I feel like she needs help. Mrs. Threadgood is helping her in a way but she can only do so much. But who knows maybe Mrs. Threadgood is doing more then the reader can see right now.

  10. I sort of feel bad for her, but at the same time she chooses to be unhappy and unhealthy. She can entertain or bore someone to death with her rambling. She can be good company because of her gossiping.

  11. She is a kind hearted woman who only takes comfort in stories told to her by an elderly Mrs. Threadgoode. She has low self a steam, and has very little respect for herself. She tries to better her self but everything she try's makes her self conscious and uncomfortable.

  12. I feel like Mrs. Threadgoode is going to help Evelyn open up. By being so open she will help Evelyn be more comfortable with herself. Evelyn needs to be more comfortable with herself to be a happier person.

  13. I don't like her very much. I think she has a huge problem with food. She might not eat so much if she didn't always have food with her. She needs to find what makes her happy, because you can not rely on someone else to do that. She needs to find ways to help herself.
